Ankeny is a growing and prosperous city located in Polk County, Iowa.  In just 10 years, the population has grown 68% from 27,000 to over 45,000 residents. Ankeny was named by Family Circle as one of the top ten towns for families in 2008, and No. 62 in the top 100 places to live according to MONEY magazine in 2009.  Ankeny traces its roots back to 1875 when it was founded by its namesakes John and Sarah Ankeny. Ankeny was incorporated in 1903.

The park is also home to the Ankeny Miracle League, a non-competitive baseball/softball program for special needs children.

Education in Ankeny

Students living in Ankeny attend schools in the Ankeny Community School District. The district is one of the fastest growing school districts in Iowa and is made up of 10 elementary schools, including Ashland Ridge Elementary, Northwest Elementary, and Westwood Elementary among others. The four middle schools consist of Northview Middle School, Southview Middle School, Parkview Middle School, and Prairie Ridge Middle School. The two high schools are Ankeny Centennial High School and Ankeny High School.

Ankeny has a number of higher education institutions and extension facilities, which include Des Moines Area Community College and Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary.
